About Vanessa MA in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University Washington State Registered Counselor
Washington State Mental Health Professional
Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors - Internship working with teens in crisis pregnancies
Trained in a variety of different therapies, I primarily draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy for issues of depression and anxiety. This means that we will look closely at how your thoughts about yourself, your life and your relationships impact these areas. Once we've identified your key thought patterns we'll work to remove the unhelpful ones and replace them with helpful thoughts that will help you thrive! For issues outside of depression and anxiety, I draw from various therapies and literature as needed and appropriate.
My approach to therapy is solutioned oriented. Together, we will explore what is causing the problem you're facing and work together with your expertise on "you," and my education and experience to create solutions. I enjoy providing concrete tools, so that once you've gained the skills to tackle your problem, you take them with you and use them as needed. My ultimate goal is that you "graduate" from therapy and move on to a productive life.
Finally, I endeavour to make therapy a safe and welcoming place. I do my best to put you at ease and work with any fears you may have about coming to therapy so that you are able to build trust in me and be open and honest. I have great respect for my clients and this journey we take together.
